RESUMO: A interação genótipo x ambiente representa um grande desafio na identificação e seleção de genótipos responsivos às diversas condições de clima e solo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar e selecionar pré-cultivares de feijão carioca e feijão carioca precoce com base na adaptabilidade, estabilidade e produtividade de grãos. Na safra 2014 foram conduzidos dois ensaios regionais de competição no estado de Pernambuco: feijão carioca (14 genótipos em Arcoverde, Belém de São Francisco, Caruaru e São João) e feijão carioca precoce (11 genótipos em Araripina, Arcoverde e Caruaru) e na safra de 2015 com feijão carioca precoce (11 genótipos, em Araripina, Arcoverde e Brejão). Os parâmetros foram estimados por meio de modelos mistos e a seleção foi realizada pelo método da Média Harmônica do Desempenho Relativo dos Valores Genéticos (MHPRVG), adotando-se três estratégias: i) seleção com base no valor genético predito, sem interação; ii) seleção com base no valor genético predito, considerando cada local; iii) seleção simultânea quanto à produtividade de grãos, adaptabilidade e estabilidade. Observou-se que os ambientes influenciaram na expressão fenotípica dos genótipos de feijão carioca e carioca precoce, configurando adaptação específica. Os genótipos BRS Notável, BRS Estilo e BRS Pérola, de feijão carioca, e CNFC 15875, BRS Notável e CNFC 15630, de feijão carioca precoce, apresentaram os melhores desempenhos nos ambientes testados, considerando-se, simultaneamente, a adaptabilidade a diferentes condições edafoclimáticas, estabilidade de desempenho e produtividade de grãos.

ABSTRACT: Genotype x environment interactions represent a major challenge in identifying and selecting genotypes responsive to different climate and soil conditions. This research evaluated and selected pre-cultivars of carioca bean and early carioca bean based on adaptability, stability, and grain yield. In the 2014 crop season, two regional competition trials were conducted in the state of Pernambuco: carioca beans (14 genotypes in Arcoverde, Belém de São Francisco, Caruaru and São João) and early carioca beans (11 genotypes in Araripina, Arcoverde, and Caruaru) and, in the 2015 crop season, with early carioca beans (11 genotypes in Araripina, Arcoverde, and Brejão). Parameters were estimated by mixed models, and the selection was performed using the Harmonic Mean of Relative Performance of Genetic Values (HMRPGV) method following three strategies: i) selection based on predicted genetic value with no interaction; ii) selection according to predicted genetic value considering each location; and iii) simultaneous selection for grain yield, adaptability, and stability. The environments influenced the phenotypic expression of the carioca and early carioca bean genotypes, representing a specific adaptation. The genotypes BRS Notável, BRS Estilo and BRS Pérola, of carioca beans, and CNFC 15875, BRS Notável and CNFC 15630, of early carioca beans, had the best results in the environments tested, regarding, simultaneously, adaptability to different soil and climate conditions, performance stability, and grain yield.

Abstract The introgression of M. enterolobii resistance-related genes in guava breeding programs can be compromised by incompatibility among Psidium species. This study aimed to evaluate the female parent preference and genetic diversity of Psidium interspecific hybrids using morphoagronomic traits and resistance to M. enterolobii. There were evaluated cross successes and germination from crosses between accesses of P. cattleyanum, P. guineense and P. guajava and the genetic diversity by Ward-MLM method of hybrids according to descriptors developed for the genus. Crosses were more successful when P. cattleyanum was the female parent. Germination was more successful in crosses involving P. cattleyanum and P. guajava. Four groups were formed. The group IV clustered the most resistant genotypes, composed by genotypes of P. cattleyanum x P. guineense, while the group II was the most susceptible. The groups I and III grouped some genotypes of P. cattleyanum x P. guajava with low levels of susceptibility. There are preferences of female parent species among crosses. Some individuals of groups I and III can be used as source of resistance genes for the breeding program, due the presence of favorable alleles inherited from guava parent. Resumo Esta pesquisa investiga como as práticas pedagógicas que envolvem a multimodalidade e os jogos digitais motivam a aprendizagem do inglês como língua adicional no contexto do ensino médio. Caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa quali-quantitativa, de natureza aplicada. Nesse sentido, foi proposta e aplicada uma prática multimodal, com aporte dos jogos digitais, para suportar o processo de leitura, de compreensão textual e de escrita em língua inglesa, para alunos do ensino médio. A prática foi aplicada no formato de duas aulas para dois grupos de contextos diferentes, abrangendo estudantes de idades entre 15 e 21 anos. A coleta de dados se deu através de questionários com perguntas abertas e fechadas com os alunos e de entrevistas semiestruturadas com os professores responsáveis pela aplicação das aulas. O conteúdo obtido através destes instrumentos foi submetido a análise de conteúdo e a análise de sentimento. A partir da análise dos resultados, verificou-se que as práticas multimodais aliadas aos jogos digitais influenciam na motivação dos sujeitos no processo de leitura, de compreensão textual e de escrita em língua inglesa, favorecendo assim o processo de aprendizagem da língua.

Resumen Esta investigación estudia cómo las prácticas pedagógicas que involucran la multimodalidad y los juegos digitales motivan el aprendizaje del inglés como segunda lengua en el contexto de la escuela secundaria. La investigación es de carácter mixto, de naturaleza aplicada. En este sentido, se propuso y se aplicó una práctica multimodal, con el apoyo de juegos digitales, para apoyar el proceso de lectura, de comprensión textual y de escritura en inglés para estudiantes de secundaria. La práctica se llevó a cabo en dos clases para dos grupos de contextos diferentes, que incluían estudiantes de entre 15 y 21 años. Los datos se recogieron mediante cuestionarios con preguntas abiertas y cerradas a los alumnos y entrevistas semiestructuradas a los profesores responsables de la puesta en práctica de las clases. La información obtenida a través de estos instrumentos se sometió a un análisis de contenido y a un análisis de sentimiento. A partir del análisis de los resultados, se comprobó que las prácticas multimodales vinculadas a los juegos digitales influyen en la motivación de los sujetos en el proceso de lectura, de comprensión textual y de escritura en lengua inglesa, lo cual favorece el proceso de aprendizaje del idioma.

Abstract This research studies how pedagogical practices involving multimodality and digital games motivate the learning of English as a second language in the context of high school. The research is of a mixed type, with an applied approach. In this sense, a multimodal practice was proposed and applied involving digital games, to support the process of reading, textual comprehension, and writing in English for high school students. The practice was carried out in two classes for two groups of different contexts, which included students between 15 and 21 years old. Data collection was done through questionnaires with open and closed questions to the students and through semi-structured interviews with the teachers responsible for the implementation of the classes. The information obtained through these instruments underwent content and sentiment analyses. Based on the analysis of the results, it was found that multimodal practices linked to digital games influence the motivation of the subjects in the processes of reading, of textual comprehension and of writing in English language, which favors the process of learning the language.

RESUMO A seleção dos melhores genótipos é dificultada devido ao efeito da interação genótipos x ambientes. Na existência dessa interação, o estudo de adaptabilidade e estabilidade fornece subsídios para a seleção dos melhores genótipos. Sendo assim, os genótipos selecionados deverão associar alta produtividade, adaptabilidade às diversas condições ambientais e estabilidade de produção. Objetivou-se avaliar e selecionar pré-cultivares de feijão preto e roxo com base na adaptabilidade, estabilidade e produtividade de grãos. Os parâmetros foram estimados por meio de modelos mistos e a seleção pela Média Harmônica da Performance Relativa dos Valores Genotípicos (MHPRVG). Os ambientes infuenciaram na expressão fenotípica dos genótipos de feijão preto e roxo, confgurando adaptação específica. Os genótipos de feijão preto BRS Esteio, BRS FP 403, CNFP 15681 e CNFP 16459 e as linhagens de feijão roxo CNFRx 16340, CNFRx 16346 e CNFRx 16353 apresentaram as melhores performances, considerando-se, simultaneamente, a produtividade de grãos, adaptabilidade e estabilidade. O método MHPRVG proporcionou seleção otimizada de genótipos com elevada produtividade de grãos, previsibilidade e responsividade à melhoria do ambiente, e deve ser utilizado como estratégia de seleção de genótipos de feijão para plantios comerciais.

ABSTRACT Selecting the best genotypes is difficult, due to the genotype × environment interaction effect. When this interaction is present, the study of adaptability and stability can provide the selection of the best genotypes. Thus, the selected genotypes should associate high yield, adaptability to diferent environmental conditions, as well as production stability. This study aimed to evaluate and select black and purple bean precultivars based on adaptability, stability and grain yield. The parameters were estimated via mixed models and the selection using the Harmonic Mean of the Relative Performance of Predicted Genetic Values (HMRPGV) method. The environments infuenced the phenotypic expression of the black and purple bean genotypes, characterizing a specific adaptability. The black bean genotypes BRS Esteio, BRS FP 403, CNFP 15681 and CNFP 16459 and the purple bean inbred lines CNFRx 16340, CNFRx 16346 and CNFRx 16353 showed the best performance, when considering, simultaneously, grain yield, adaptability and stability. The HMRPGV method provided an optimized selection of genotypes with high grain yield, predictability and responsiveness to environmental improvements, and should be used as a selection strategy for common bean genotypes for commercial growing.

RESUMO Análise de trilha é uma metodologia capaz de desdobrar os coefficientes de correlação em efeitos diretos e indiretos, auxiliando o melhorista no estudo de caracteres quantitativos. Objetivou-se utilizar a metodologia para quantificar esses efeitos na produção de etanol teórico, exercidos pelas variáveis produção de matéria seca total e de colmo, sólidos solúveis na colheita e eficiência de extração de caldo, e na produção de colmo, pelas variáveis agronômicas altura média das plantas na colheita, número de dias até o forescimento, produção de biomassa verde e porcentagem de colmos na produção de biomassa verde. A variável sólidos solúveis apresentou os maiores efeitos total (0,8844) e direto (0,5969) sobre a produção teórica de etanol, indicando grande dependência da variável principal pela explicativa. O maior efeito indireto foi via produção de colmos (0,2820). As quatro variáveis consideradas como dependentes (altura média das plantas, número de dias até o forescimento, porcentagem de colmos na produção de biomassa verde e produção de biomassa verde) apresentaram valores positivos de efeito total sobre a produção de colmo. O maior efeito direto (0,8010) foi exercido pela produção de biomassa verde.

ABSTRACT Path analysis is a methodology able of splitting the correlation coefficients into direct and indirect effects, helping the breeder in the study of quantitative traits. This study aimed to use path analysis to quantify such effects on the yield of theoretical ethanol, exerted by the variables total and culm dry matter yield, soluble solids content at harvest and efficiency of broth extraction, and on culm yield, by the agronomic variables average plant height at harvest, number of days until flowering, green matter yield and percentage of culms in the green matter yield. The soluble solids content variable presented the greatest total (0.8844) and direct (0.5969) effects on the yield of theoretical ethanol, indicating a great dependence of the main variable by the explanatory variable. The largest indirect effect was via culm yield (0.2820). The four variables considered as dependent (average plant height, number of days until flowering, percentage of culms in the yield of green matter and green matter yield) showed positive values for the total effect on culm yield. The largest direct effect (0.8010) was exerted by the green matter yield.

ABSTRACT Combining the use of agronomic, disease-resistance, and molecular informationcan greatly contribute to genetic progress in breeding programs. This study was developed to estimate the genetic distance between genotypes derived from backcrosses and their parents using morphoagronomic and molecular information and information pertaining to resistance to the Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CABMV), and indicate genotypes with potential for generation advancement. The studied population consisted of 91 genotypes from the first backcross, oneinterspecific hybrid, and the species Passiflora setacea and P. edulis. For morphoagronomic characterization, the traits number of fruits, total fruit weight, average fruit weight, and area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC, related to resistance to CABMV) were evaluated. Fourteen microsatellite primers were used to estimate genetic diversity among the genotypes, estimatediversity parameters and quantify the proportion of parental genome in the evaluated genotypes. The use of morphoagronomic and molecular information revealed the existence of genetic variability among the genotypes. The mean number of alleles is close to that expected for the population. Observed heterozygosity (0.42) was higher than the expected heterozygosity (0.30), indicating an elevated number of heterozygous individuals in the population. Due to their good agronomic performance, resistance to the virus, and genotypic and phenotypic distinction, genotypes 484 and 312 are recommended to compose the future stages of the passion fruit breeding program aimed at resistance to CABMV

Abstract There are no guava cultivars resistant to the Meloidogyne enterolobii; for this reason, genetic breeding has been performed by introgressing genes into the current cultivars through interspecific hybridization. We used 33 microsatellite markers for the genetic-molecular characterization of segregating populations of Psidium resistant to M. enterolobii, aiming at selection within and between populations for generation advancement in the guava breeding program. The average number of alleles per locus ranged from 1.60 to 2.09. Populations 1 (P. guineense × P. cattleyanum) and 5 (P. guajava × P. cattleyanum) obtained the greatest genetic diversity, which can be confirmed by the higher observed-heterozygosity values (0.422 and 0.312, respectively). Bayesian analysis showed that the populations were subdivided into three groups, agreeing with the number of groups observed by Nei’s genetic distance. The population obtained from the P. guineense × P. cattleyanum cross differed from the others with a clear structuring, whereas the P. guajava × P. cattleyanum and P. cattleyanum × P. guineense populations were the most similar between each other. The SSR markers were efficient in discriminating the populations, and individual 80 may be employed in future crosses with guava, allowing generation advancement in the guava breeding program aimed at resistance to M. enterolobii.

Abstract The REML/BLUP procedure has been successfully used for genetic progress through individual selection of high-yielding passion fruit genotypes resistant to the Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus. This study was thus developed to estimate genetic parameters and predict the gain obtained from individual selection of genotypes in a population derived from backcrosses in passion fruit. The experiment was set up as a randomized block design with four replicates, involving five full-sib families (genotypes from the first backcross). Variance components and the genetic values were estimated for eight agronomic traits via the REML/BLUP procedure. For all traits, genotypic variance between the genotypes from the first backcross showed little contribution to the phenotypic variance. The low heritability estimates obtained for the traits are overcome via individual BLUP estimates. Therefore, it was possible to obtain considerable gains with individual selection for the variables fruit length, average fruit weight, and pulp weight (19.50 to 14.04%; 22.93 to 17.97%; and 10.08 to 7.95%, respectively). For the traits showing lower gains, it is possible to obtain gains indirectly by selecting genotypes for correlated traits. Because this population derives from the first backcross generation, agronomic traits still must be recovered.

ABSTRACT: Genetically diverse interspecific hybrids of Vitis were selected for resistance to Pratylenchus brachyurus. Three segregating populations with 57 hybrid crosses were evaluated. The parents included Vitis romanetiiC166-043 × 07355-075, 06354-047 × Cereza and 06354-047 × Nocera, selected from the germplasm bank at the University of California, Davis, the United States. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design, with three replications and three plants per plot. Root mass, nematodes per gram of root and reproduction factor were determined and used as quantitative variables; 16 multi categoric descriptors were also evaluated. The traits were analyzed using the Ward-Modified Location Model procedure (Ward-MLM) for the composition of genotype groups. Genetic parameters and prediction of genetic values by Restricted Maximum Likelihood / Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (REML / BLUP) were assessed. The Ward-MLM classification strategy supported the formation of three homogeneous groups. Group I comprised 13 hybrids; Group II, 26 hybrids; and Group III, 18 hybrids. Groups II and III contained hybrids resistant to P. brachyurus. High broad sense heritability values were found for root mass, reproduction factor and nematodes per gram of root, which provided genetic gain and allowed selection of resistant genotypes available for cloning, since the total genetic variance occurred due to the dominance effects. Of the 57 genotypes assessed, those with the lowest genotypic values for reproduction factor were selected as resistant, including: CH3.2, CH3.23, CH3.8, CH3.37, CH3.38, CH3.41, CH3.36, CH2.1, CH2.7, CH1.1, CH1.3 and CH1.2.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to assess whether there is linear dependence between groups of morphoagronomic and bromatological traits in hybrid silage corn. Nineteen topcross hybrids and five checks were assessed in two different environments in Campos dos Goytacazes and Itaocara counties, Rio de Janeiro State, during the growing seasons 2013/2014. The study followed a randomized blocks design with four replicates. The phenotypic and canonical correlations between the groups of seven morphoagronomic and five bromatological traits were assessed. There is linear dependence between the group pairs of morphoagronomic, and bromatological variables. The morphoagronomic trait green mass yield can be adopted in indirect selection processes to indicate the increased bromatological quality of maize silage based on features such as crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, lignin, crude fat and mineral matter. Topcross hybrids UENF-2208 and UENF-2209 presented high potential for silage yield in the North and Northwest Regions.

RESUMO: A utilização de modelos mistos na avaliação de cruzamentos dialélicos é uma opção altamente oportuna para a fidedigna predição dos valores genéticos das progênies. Na cultura do pimentão, os híbridos são largamente explorados comercialmente, principalmente por suas características de importância econômica. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial de híbridos resultantes de um dialelo parcial entre cinco linhagens de pimentão desenvolvidas para o sistema de cultivo hidropônico e dois híbridos simples, utilizando modelos mistos. Foram realizados cruzamentos no esquema de dialelo parcial entre as linhagens (L1B, L6, L7, L18 e L19) e os híbridos simples ‘Valdor’ e ‘Atlantis’. As plantas foram cultivadas em sistema hidropônico com substrato e irrigadas três vezes ao dia com solução nutritiva. Com base em modelos mistos, foram avaliadas as características: diâmetro médio de frutos (DF); comprimento médio de frutos (CF); número médio de frutos por planta (NFP); massa média de frutos (MMF); produção precoce (PP) e massa média de frutos por planta (MFP). A linhagem L6 foi a que expressou maior estimativa de capacidade geral de combinação para MFP, MMF e PP, revelando-se promissora para recomendação. O híbrido triplo que apresentou melhor capacidade específica de combinação para DF, MMF, MFP e PP, foi L6 x ‘Valdor’. Os híbridos triplos foram eficientes para incrementar a produtividade para as características de interesse com a aplicação da modelagem mista.

ABSTRACT: The use of mixed models for evaluating diallel crosses is a highly timely option to the reliable prediction of progeny genetic values. In the sweet pepper crop, hybrids are commercially explored on a large scale, mainly because of their characteristics of economic importance. This study aimed to assess the potential of hybrids obtained from a partial diallel among five sweet pepper lines developed for the hydroponic cultivation system and two simple hybrids, by applying mixed models. It was performed crosses in the partial diallel scheme among the (L1B, L6, L7, L18, and L19) lines and the simple hybrids ‘Valdor’ and ‘Atlantis’. Plants were cultivated in hydroponic system with substrate and irrigated three times a day using nutrient solution. On the basis of mixed models, the following traits were assessed: mean fruit diameter (FD), mean fruit length (FL), mean fruit number per plant (FNP), mean fruit mass (FM), early yield (EYIELD), and mean fruit mass per plant (FMP). The L6 line was the one that showed the highest estimate of general combination capacity for FMP, FM, and EYIELD, proving to be promising for recommendation. The hybrid that provided the best specific combining ability for FD, FM, FMP, and EYIELD was L6 x ‘Valdor’. Triple hybrids were efficient to maximize yield for the traits of interest by the use of the mixed model.

ABSTRACT. Since 2001, the disease known as 'guava decline', resulting from the interaction between the phytonematode Meloidogyne enterolobii and the fungus Fusarium solanie, has caused direct and indirect economic losses to the entire guava production chain. Given the lack of sources of resistance in guava genotypes, interspecific hybrids of Psidium spp. were obtained for resistance to the nematode M. enterolobii. To classify the level of resistance of the interspecific hybrids, we evaluated the plant classification methodologies proposed by Oostenbrink (1966) and Moura and Régis (1987). Estimates of genetic parameters were obtained using the REML/BLUP approach. Interspecific hybrids resistant to M. enterolobii were selected that can be used as rootstocks or in new crosses for the development of the guava breeding program.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar a eficiência da seleção simultânea quanto à produtividade, à estabilidade e à adaptabilidade, em genótipos de feijão dos grupos carioca e preto. Na safra 2016, dois experimentos foram realizados no Estado de Pernambuco: um do grupo carioca, com 20 genótipos, em Caruaru, Arcoverde e Belém de São Francisco; e outro do grupo preto, com 12 genótipos, em Caruaru e Arcoverde. Os parâmetros foram estimados por modelos mistos, e a seleção foi realizada pelo método da média harmônica do desempenho relativo dos valores genéticos, tendo-se adotado três estratégias: seleção com base no valor genético predito, sem interação; seleção com base no valor genético predito, tendo-se considerado cada local; e seleção simultânea quanto à produtividade, à estabilidade e à adaptabilidade de grãos. Os ambientes influenciaram a expressão fenotípica dos genótipos de feijão carioca, o que indica adaptação específica. A herdabilidade média quanto à produtividade de grãos apresentou valores de elevada magnitude para os genótipos de feijão preto, o que é condição favorável à seleção, e valores baixos para os de feijão carioca. Os genótipos de feijão preto CNFP 15684, 'BRS Esteio', CNFP 15678, CNFP 15697, CNFP 15695 e 'IPR Uirapuru' apresentam os melhores desempenhos nos ambientes testados, ao se considerarem simultaneamente o rendimento de produtividade de grãos, a adaptabilidade e a estabilidade.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to determine the efficiency of a simultaneous selection for yield, stability, and adaptability of bean genotypes of the carioca and black groups. In the 2016 harvest, two experiments were carried out in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil: one for the carioca group, with 20 genotypes, in the municipalities of Caruaru, Arcoverde, and Belém de São Francisco; and the other for the black group, with 12 genotypes, in the municipalities of Caruaru and Arcoverde. The parameters were estimated by mixed models, and selection was performed by the harmonic mean of the relative performance of genetic values, using three strategies: selection based on the predicted genetic value, without interaction; selection based on the predicted genetic value, considering each location; and simultaneous selection for grain yield, stability, and adaptability. The environments affected the phenotypic expression of the carioca bean genotypes, indicating specific adaptation. The average heritability for grain yield showed high values for black bean genotypes, which is a favorable condition for selection, and low values for carioca bean genotypes. The black bean genotypes CNFP 15684, 'BRS Esteio', CNFP 15678, CNFP 15697, CNFP 15695, and 'IPR Uirapuru' show the best performances in the studied environments, simultaneously considering grain yield, adaptability, and stability.

Resumo O presente trabalho teve como objetivo identificar os efeitos diretos e indiretos de caracteres de produção de frutos de maracujazeiro-azedo sobre caracteres de interesse agronômico, assim como verificar as possíveis mudanças de associações entre os caracteres após a realização de três ciclos de seleção recorrente. Vinte e três progênies de meios-irmãos foram avaliadas para as características número de frutos por planta, massa de frutos por planta (g), porcentagem de polpa (%), comprimento e diâmetro de frutos (mm), espessura da casca (mm), teor de sólidos solúveis totais (°brix), pH e produtividade por planta (kg). A característica produção de frutos por planta foi considerada a variável principal, e as demais características variáveis, explicativas. A herdabilidade dentro das famílias (h2ad) apresentou valores inferiores comparados à herdabilidade média da progênie (h2mp). Pela análise de trilha, observou-se que a seleção direta de genótipos com maior número de frutos ou massa média de frutos acarreta aumento na produção por planta; no entanto, a seleção indireta é ineficiente em promover ganhos simultâneos. Assim, pela verificação das correlações ao longo dos ciclos de seleção, pode-se afirmar que, apesar de a variável produção por planta ser a mais importante, deve-se dar preferência para o uso dos índices de seleção, visto que há melhores possibilidades de obtenção de ganho para características de qualidade e produção de frutos na seleção entre as progênies de meios-irmãos de maracujazeiro-azedo.

Abstract The present study was developed to identify the direct and indirect effects of fruit production traits in passion fruit on traits of agronomic interest as well as determine possible changes in associations between the characters after three cycles of recurrent selection. Twenty three half-sibling progenies were evaluated for the characteristics number of fruits per plant; fruit mass per plant (g); pulp percentage (%); fruit length and diameter (mm); peel thickness (mm); total soluble solids content (ºBrix); pH; and yield per plant (kg). Fruit production per plant was considered the main variable, while the others were considered explanatory variables. Within-family heritability (h2ad) values were lower than the mean heritability of the progeny (h2mp). Path analysis revealed that the direct selection of genotypes with higher number of fruits or fruit average mass results in increased production per plant; however, indirect selection is inefficient in providing simultaneous gains. Therefore, by observing the correlations throughout selection cycles, it can be stated that although production per plant is the most important variable, preference should be given to the use of selection indices, as there are better chances of obtaining gains for fruit quality and production traits in selection across half-sibling passion fruit progenies.

RESUMO: O uso de genótipos adaptados a diferentes regiões é uma das principais formas de aumentar a produtividade brasileira de feijão. O presente trabalho objetivou avaliar o desempenho genotípico de feijão carioca via modelos mistos. Foram avaliados 14 genótipos de feijão carioca em quatro locais do estado de Pernambuco (Arcoverde, Caruaru, Belém de São Francisco e São João) no ano de 2015. Os experimentos foram instalados em delineamento de blocos ao acaso com três repetições. Os parâmetros genéticos foram estimados pela metodologia REML/BLUP, e a seleção baseou-se no método da média harmônica da performance relativa dos valores genéticos (MHPRVG). A herdabilidade média dos genótipos apresentou magnitude moderada, aliada a alta acurácia seletiva, o que possibilita a seleção de indivíduos agronomicamente superiores. Os genótipos ‘BRS Notável’, CNFC 15480 e ‘IPR 139’ apresentaram boa adaptabilidade e estabilidade produtiva de grãos. Houve concordância entre as estatísticas μ ̂ + g ̂..., estabilidade de valores genéticos (MHVG), adaptabilidade de valores genéticos (PRVG) e estabilidade e adaptabilidade de valores genéticos (MHPRVG) na discriminação dos genótipos mais produtivos e com alta adaptabilidade e estabilidade, indicando que elas podem fazer parte de critérios seletivos na rotina dos programas de melhoramento do feijão.

ABSTRACT: Using genotypes adapted to different regions is one of the main ways to increase Brazilian bean yield. The aim of the present study was to assess the genotypic performance of Carioca beans through mixed models. Fourteen Carioca bean genotypes were assessed in four locations in Pernambuco State (Arcoverde, Caruaru, Belém de São Francisco and São João counties) in 2015. The experiments followed a completely randomized block design, with three repetitions. Genetic parameters were estimated according to the REML/BLUP methodology, whereas genotype selection was based on the harmonic mean of relative performance of genetic values method (MHPRVG). The mean genotype heritability had moderate magnitude, high selective accuracy, besides allowing selection of agronomically superior individuals. Genotypes ‘BRS Notável’, CNFC 15480 and ‘IPR 139’ showed good adaptability and grain yield stability. There was agreement among the statistics μ ̂ + g ̂…, stability (MHVG), adaptability (PRVG), and stability and adaptability of genetic values (MHPRVG) in the discrimination of the most productive genotypes, which presented high adaptability and stability. This outcome indicated that these genotypes can be part of the selection criteria regularly used in bean breeding programs.
